SMRC Scottish Mini Cooper Cup

Round 18-20

  • QUALIFYING

⏱️ Qualifying: The Calm Before the Fog

The final weekend began in glorious autumn sunshine on Saturday. With the championship on the line, the pressure was immense for the top two contenders.

Ross Wilkinson continued his flawless season in the R53 MINI Cooper S, once again securing the top spot as the sole entry in his class.

In the Cooper class, Daniel Patterson put himself in the best possible position by qualifying at the front of the title pack.

Championship leader Chad Little, holding a 42-point advantage, secured the 4th fastest lap in qualifying. This placed him directly alongside Stuart McPhaden and crucially right behind his main rival, Patterson.

  • RACE 1

🏆 Race 1: The Only Battle Run

Saturday's race proved to be the final time the MINIs would take to the track in 2025. Because the weather held for the first day, the SMRC was able to complete this single race for the MINIs before the conditions turned.

Chad Little drove a disciplined race, knowing that simply finishing was the key to securing the title.

Daniel Patterson fought hard at the front to keep the pressure on, but with only one race completed, the points gap remained too large to overcome.

Ross Wilkinson crossed the line to complete a perfect "clean sweep" of the 2025 season, winning every round he entered in the R53 class.

🌫️ Sunday: The Fog Kills the Battle

The "Final Showdown" on Sunday never materialized. A thick, impenetrable fog enveloped Knockhill, forcing officials to abandon the meeting.

Despite the best efforts of the marshals and clerk of the course, visibility never reached a safe level for racing.

The final two races of the season were officially abandoned, meaning the championship standings were locked in based on the results of the Saturday race.

This unconventional ending confirmed Chad Little as the 2025 Scottish MINI Cooper Cup Champion.
