The return to Knockhill saw the championship leaders immediately return to form, with the top three covered by a mere third of a second. James Hitchen secured pole position once again, setting a benchmark time of 1:10.010. He was chased hard by Gregor McPhaden, who missed out on pole by only +0.226 seconds. Ayden Wilson completed the top three, just behind McPhaden. The competitive field saw the top five, including James McCracken and Matthew Baldie, all within less than 1.1 seconds of the pole time. This confirmed another set of incredibly close races were in store.
